Winter Blues

I'm trying to beat the winter blues aka a massive head cold....so I made a card for the Moxie Fab World and SCS Ways To Use It challenges using a new stamp set being released next week. It's called Pennant Party.

I'm trying really hard not the let the winter SICKIES get me down, but this has to be the worst cold I have had in a LONG time. If there is anything "off" with this card I am blaming it on not being able to see well thanks to all this sneezing, watery eyes and a runny nose.

I made this card for my son who will be 14 in a few weeks.....I just hope it's not too girly/little boyish. I'm still trying to figure out what in the world to get the kid. He doesn't really want anything and he has a ton of stuff already.....it was so much easier when they were little and you could just buy them a new toy ;). I may resort to money, but that is such a boring gift. If you have any creative suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Thanks for visiting! I hope I don't pass my cold on to you! ;)

Special Gift

Can you believe it? Blog posts two days in a row!! ;)

Today I am sharing a sweet card I made using the new Special Friends stamp set. (For you digi lovers, the image is also available as a digi here.) I love the precious little girls in this set.....especially since I don't have any girls of my own.

This little sweetie is Autumn. I named her that because it was one of the girl names we picked for our youngest child....who happened to be a boy ;). She even has wavy hair, just like I did when I was a little girl.

I went a bit crazy with this card and all the layers & such. The DP is from Basic Grey (Kioshi). I dry embossed two of the panels with embossing folders, added machine stitching around two of the panels, plus all the embellishments....pearls, Stickles, ribbon, Heart border and sentiment tag. The little heart in the kite is one of the cut-outs from the heart border :).

I have been making so many CAS cards lately that I almost forgot how to layer ;), but it was a lot of fun!

Thanks for visiting me today! Make it a great day!

Stained Glass Tutorial

Hello friends!

I thought I'd share a fun tutorial I posted yesterday in our SCS Member Company forum. It's a Stained Glass technique and it's super easy, so I hope you'll give it a try!!

Here are two cards I made using this technique and some of our new stamps for February.

For this one I used the lovely Butterfly Flourish stamp set. I embossed the card front with a Tim Holtz brick wall embossing folder and then added some pretty embellishments to finish it off.

For this one I used the pretty Rose Collage set and I kept it even more simple by just adding a bow.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit with me today!

Blessings!

Let's go to the HOP!

Ok, so if you are following along with the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps February Release Blog Hop, you should have just come from the SNSS blog where you saw my Rhubarb card :).....if you didn't, then pop over there before you go any further, so you don't miss anything. There is a ton of eye candy to be seen today :).

So how about those cards I promised :)......

First up is a card I made last week using Bridget's fabulous Reverse Masking tutorial. I love the look of this technique and her sample card is out of the world so when you are done hopping (it's probably best to wait if you are anything like me.....just so you don't forget what you were doing in the first place-lol) head over to see it!

I used a few different sets for this card....Butterfly Flourish, Rose Collage (the smaller butterflies) and Let Go, Let God (sentiment). I think this sentiment is so perfect paired with butterflies.....don't you? :)

The pretty papers I used are from the Stella Rose Gertie pad by My Mind's Eye. I also used a Martha Stewart border punch and then added some gorgeous Island Indigo Stampin Up ribbon to match the cardstock. The glittery butterflies were colored with Copics and then topped with Stickles.

And for my second card, I used Dina's wonderful new set simply titled You.

This card is also a square but it's a bit smaller, measuring 4.25". The gorgeous background DP is from the Victoria Gardens pad by Echo Park and the heart is cut using one of our Heart Dies from a scrap of DP from the same pad of Stella Rose Gertie papers I used in my first card. I sponged around the die cut heart and the stamped panel. I added ribbon and a pretty flower "bob" I found at Hobby Lobby a while back.

Ok, that's all for me for now, but the DT Divas have a ton of other goodies to share so here is the list to send you along your way....

And before you go....don't forget to make plans to join us for our new release party tonight; the fun takes place over in our member company forums on Splitcoaststampers. We'll have great fellowship with crafty friends, challenges will prizes, plus a special prize drawing from the February preorders! The excitement starts at 8:00 PM EST. See you there!
