Look, Ma! No Stamping!

It took me awhile to find my mojo today.  For most of the day I just wanted to be in bed...but the show must go on so I forced myself to get some things done.  The illness that has swept through our house has been a doozy!

Here's one of the cards I made when I finally found that mojo...and look, NO stamping!

I used some gorgeous paper from Kaiser Craft called Chapter One.  I have been hoarding this pad because I love it so much, but I thought it was time to use it again.  It's so pretty!!!  The bird is from a SNSS die and the rest is DP, even the tag sentiment was one of the punch outs at the back of the DP pad.  Cool, huh?  I added some twine and frayed the ends.  The paper roses were lightly sponged with blue ink and then sparkled up with some Stickles (which you can't see in the pic, unfortunately).  Oh, and the pretty background shape is from the Top Note die from Stampin' Up.

Makin' a MESS!

I'm fighting a nasty head cold and feel like I'm in a fog, so I decided to just take it easy today and do something I love....making a mess with my stamping supplies! ;)

Today's Mixability Challenge at SCS was to splatter....so that's what I did.  All over the place.  You should see my craft area...but it's all good.  Creativity is always messy!

I paired this fun technique with another challenge on SCS, the Free 4 All challenge which was to use music theme and the color blue (Singin' the Blues). The challenge was perfect for this week's featured set, Under His Wings, since it has part of a hymn in it, so I grabbed my stamps, inks and other goodies and set to work.

Stamps: Under His Wings & Music Background-Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

Paper: watercolor paper, blue cardstock-SU

Ink: Moonstruck inkpad and reinker-CTMH

Accessories: bird dies-Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, ribbon

Techniques: splatter with dish soap, reinker, water and straw

Cup of Tea...

Just popping in to post this quick card I made with Diane's new Special Blend set.  I love this image.  The little birdie is so sweet. :)  I really am more of a coffee person, but I have many friends who love tea, so this image will certainly get a lot of use.

I really enjoyed coloring the flowers in this set.  The lily can be colored so many ways, but for my card I decided to go with pinks.  I machine stitched the patterned paper strips to the pink cardstock, added some ribbon and pearls and created a banner for the sentiment.

I had such a hard time figuring out what to do with this image once I colored it.  I LOVE how it turned out and I was afraid anything I made with it wouldn't do the image justice!  I found these pretty papers in my stash and thought the colors were a good match so this is what I came up with.  I added some rhinestone scallops to finish it off.

I love this set of stamps and dies.  It coordinates so well with our other nature silhouette sets.  I have made some many cards with these already.  Silhouettes are wonderful for CAS cards and the masking & sponging technique which I've done here.  

I use post-it notes to mask off the area I want to remain white and then and I sponged ink in a circular motion in the area between the post-it notes.  I them remove the masks and stamp the sentiment and flowers in Versafine Onyx Black. For the bird, I die cut the shape first and then stamp the image in Versafine Onyx Black.

This set is so full of possibilities.  For my card I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored them with my Copics.  I added the sentiment in the banner with Versafine Onyx Black.  The DP is from For the Record 2 by Echo Park.  I added some lace trim, ribbon, pearls, Stickles (to the center of the flower) and lovely quill roses (made by a sweet friend and customer) to finish off the card.

I hope you like it!  I have to admit, I have been really struggling with busy cards lately since I have been on such a CAS kick.

I love the sweet images in the set and had a great time working with Diane to add all the great sentiments.  I have a feeling I will be using this one a lot.
