Retro Sketch-Two Posts!

Don't have a heart attack, but yes, this is my second post for the day {gasp}. I do have a good reason...

I've been surfing SCS and Pinterest all day being inspired by all of the beautiful artwork out there and I stumbled upon this card by SmilynStef.  I thought to myself, "Wow, that layout looks an awful lot like the layout I used last night for a card I made after seeing something on Pinterest."

So I read on...the card she made was for a sketch from Retro Sketches...so I went to their blog to see the sketch and found that it IS the exact layout from the card that inspired me to make this card.

At Retro Sketches they use previous cards the designers have made and base the new sketches off of them, so the card I saw on Pinterest that inspired me to make this card was also the card that inspired the sketch!  PHEW!  Did you get all that?!

So without further ado....my card....which is a case of a card I saw on Pinterest, which became a sketch for a challenge, which I am now entering! LOL

Paper: white CS

Inks: Baby Pink, Hollyhock, Tulip-CTMH, Onyx Black-Versafine

Other supplies: black journal pen, ruler, Heart Die-Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, red baker's twine-The Twinery, Stickles

Isn't interesting how things have a way of coming full circle? Even in the stamping world! ;)

One Layer Fun

Hello friends!!

Did you ever try something in regards to your hobby that you had so much fun with you just couldn't stop?  That's me with one layer cards.  I can't stop making them!  They are so much fun!  I've been using supplies and stamps that haven't been played with in so long.

When I saw today's Sweet Stop sketch, I thought it would be fun to try it but keep it just one layer, so this is what I came up with.

Stamps: Winter Silhouettes, Snowflake Background, Friendship Script-Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

Paper: white CS

Inks: Pacifica-CTMH, Onyx Black-Versafine

Other supplies: post it notes, sponges, Stickles 

To create the background rectangle, I masked the shape using post it notes, then stamped and sponged inside the area I left open.  To keep the snowman image white I had to also create a mask for where he would go so when I stamped and sponged, that area would stay white.

Mini Critters

Here are my cards featuring this adorable set...
 

For my first card I used the sweet little birdie.  The paper pad is called Love Story by Fancy Pants and it has this cute sheet with a bunch of little "tag" type pieces, so I used one that looked like notebook paper to create a bullet list of sentiments from my little bird to the recipient.  I added some twine and a button and the strip of lace trim with some DP.

This card features the smiley little turtle.  The design is a bit different.  I was playing around with some scraps I had from my Be You paper pad by Fancy Pants.  I used a tag die from Spellbinders for the turtle's background piece and the doily is a lovely die from Cheery Lynn.
